Da mein neuerer Rechner regelrecht abgefackelt (!) ist, muss ich für die nächste Zeit (kein Geld) mit einem Älteren Vorlieb nehmen.

Aus 4-86ern, P1 Intels, AMDs & Co habe ich mir dann einen lauffähigen Rechner zusammengestellt - genaue Zusammensetzung folgt unten - und wollte wenigstens ein paar meiner älteren Spiele mal wieder in Angriff nehmen.
Dabei treten aber Probleme mit Direct X auf.

Getestet habe ich es bereits mit den Versionen 9.0b und 9.0c

Die Graka Treiber sind auf dem vermeintlich neustem Stand (von 1996 oder 1997 - etwas neueres lässt sich per Google von mir nicht finden - ich lasse mich aber gerne vom Gegenteil überzeugen).

DXDiag besagt, dass Direct3D nicht verfügbar sei - DirectDraw funktioniert dagegen einwandfrei.
Kommen wir nun zu meiner Frage, kann ich mit der Karte überhaupt Direct X "richtig" nutzen? Gibt es vielleicht so etwas wie die Detonator Treiber für die NVidia Karten? Oder ist sie (die Graka) einfach zu alt? Würde das Updaten der Treiber anderer Teile des PCs etwas bewirken? Sollte ich vielleicht eine ältere Direct X Version installieren (formatieren wäre dann wohl nötig, aber auch nicht weiter schlimm, PC ist noch recht jungfräulich). Oder gibt es eine leichte Möglichkeit, Direct X zu entfernen/"downzugraden"? Entschuldigt überflüssige Informationen, aber ich weiss nicht, was wichtig ist, und was nicht. Der USB und Plug&Play generell funktionieren übrigens auch nicht, aber ich glaube kaum, dass dies etwas mit dem hier angesprochenem Problemen zu tun hat.

S3 Trio?
Hatte die selber mal, von der kannst du nicht wirklich was erwarten...

Ich denke diese 2 Eigenschaften sagen das aus:

Soll heißen die Karte ist zwar DirectX kompatibel, unterstützt aber nur DirectDraw und kein Direct3D.
Evtl. hat die Karte OpenGL Support, aber mit den 2MB VRAM der Karte kannst du eh nicht viel anfangen....evtl. reichts für den OpenGL Windows Bildschirmschoner :)

Sowas in der Art hatte ich befürchtet. Muss ich wohl in nächster Zeit die Internetforen wieder unsicher machen, ich kann nicht mal Spiele zocken, die schon verstaubt sind t.t

klar, 2d titel und software 3d. monstertruck madness oa. läuft vielleicht sogar. ansonsten kann ich dir ne voodoo 1 zum kauf anbieten =P

Naja ich wollte eigentlich das doch recht anspruchslose Final Fantasy VIII mal wieder zocken, was aber komischerweise nicht im Vollbildmodus läuft, sondern nur im 640er Fenstermodus. Und da erkenne ich rein gar nix ~

So, Abschlussposting.

Graka wurde ersetzt gegen eine Ati 3D Rage IIC - schafft es immerhin alles bis einschließlich Direct3D 7 zu nutzen. Doom 4 kann also kommen!

Das Problem mit dem USB Anschlüssen lag an Bios, dort waren die Ports deaktiviert t.t
